DVD duplication refers to transferring (also known as burning) video or data content onto pre-made blank DVD-R discs (where the "R" stands for recordable). DVD-Rs can only be recorded once and the DVD content cannot be erased. DVD duplication offers lower pricing for smaller jobs up to 500 units or is the right choice when fast turnaround is needed. DVD replication is the standard industry process for manufacturing larger quantities of DVDs and is usually the most economic solution for orders of 500 or more discs. With DVD replication, discs are injection molded, metalized and stamped with digital file information. replicationg DVDs involves higher set up costs and is thus not economical for shorter run DVD projects. Disc artwork is applied to replicated DVDs using either silkscreen or offset printing.
